Covid-19 pandemic update – solo flying to restart
Following the Department of Transport update on 15 May 2020 and with the permission of the Aerodrome Operator, Surrey Hills Gliding Club will recommence solo flying, for members only, from 19 May 2020. Unfortunately 2 seat flying is still not permitted and therefore we cannot fly tuition flights or air experience flights. We will continue to monitor the situation along with all expert advice and will update this page as the guidelines are relaxed.
If you have booked a flight with us over the coming weeks we will be contacting you with updated information. We appreciate your understanding of a situation that is totally outside our control. We do not, at present, know when we will be able to restart air experience flights but will post updates on this page at an appropriate time.
We will continue to sell vouchers via this website and any vouchers, either already purchased (and in date at the time we halted flying) or purchased now, will have an extended expiry date so you won’t miss out of your flight(s). We are currently extending vouchers to 31 December 2021 instead of the normal 9 months. If your voucher is due to expire in the next couple of months please contact us via email so we can add the extended validity date to our records.
We hope everyone stays safe and we look forward to being able to commence 2 seat flying at the historic RAF Kenley airfield soon.
